Description
The ViPrimePLUS Hepatitis A Virus RT-qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Hepatitis A Virus genome in clinical samples (e.g. blood and faecal matter).
Hepatitis A virus is a small, non-enveloped, single stranded RNA virus. It is the most common cause of viral hepatitis disease, with about 1.4 million occurrences each year worldwide. It causes acute infectious disease and inflammation in the liver in varying stages of severity. However, it usually heals completely without long-term damage. An infected person will develop antibody against it, thus has lifelong immunity against the disease. Mode of transmission is through fecal-oral route via contaminated food. Introduction of vaccine greatly reduces hepatitis A cases in many developed countries.
